10 Best Dave Grohl Songs (Not By Nirvana Or Foo Fighters)
4. Pete Yorn - "For Us"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf4vLhI94AUPete Yorn is not the type of person you'd expect Dave Grohl to go into a studio with. Though, if anything can be gleaned from this list, it's that expectations about Grohl's affinities fall to the wayside with each song he works on.
Yorn's a singer-songwriter with a fondness for relaxed melodies and softer instrumentation. Dave Grohl is...not that. At all. But the two do share one thing in common: they both started off as drummers, which is probably what incites Yorn to do the occasional big, crunchy power-pop song.
One of those songs is "For Us," which Grohl stepped in to play on, presumably just for the hell of it. (He's had no connection to Yorn before or since.) This is one that wouldn't sound so out of place on a Foo Fighters album, especially since their voices sound oddly similar.
As a bonus, watch the session drummer struggle to keep up with Grohl's beat at various points in the music video. You can almost see him mouth the words "Oh God, make it stop" around the 1:15 mark.
