10 Best Dave Grohl Songs (Not By Nirvana Or Foo Fighters)
3. Killing Joke - "Blood On Your Hands"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ4UErc8s7gBack when Grohl was still best known as the long-haired gangly drummer for Nirvana, he became embroiled in a sliver of controversy when his band was accused of plagiarizing the main riff of "Come As You Are" from Killing Joke's "Eighties," and were nearly taken to court over it.
But it appears that, 10 years later, the wounds were scabbed over enough for Grohl to play with Killing Joke on their 2003 self-titled album. (Or perhaps that was the final stage of the healing process.) And, as with everything else on this list, he knocked it out of the park.
Listening to this album, it's apparent that if this whole alt-rock icon thing hadn't worked out, Dave Grohl would have no problem securing a spot in a goth rock or post-punk band. This song, "Blood on Your Hands" excellently highlights what it is about Grohl's drumming that makes him such a paradox. He's a heavy hitter, but he doesn't overpower the song. He plays intensely, but his little fills and flourishes sound effortless.
