10 Best Eminem Music Videos

8. The Way I Am

Even by the year 2000, while still in his career's infancy, Eminem was a man who was clearly on the edge. The Way I Am, as a song, perfectly encapsulates that moment of emotion in his life. The video, on the other hand, goes an extra step further. As we watch Em literally step off the no-longer proverbial edge as he free falls to what he hopes to be sanctuary as he gradually disregards sanctity - all the while losing his sanity - as he falls into the unknown.

This might be the first time Eminem straight-up painted himself as a public enemy, if not an outright villain. He was proving that he wasn't your typical "pampered princess" type of musician. He was raw. He was visceral, and he didn't care if you didn't like him. It's echoed in the title but it's provoked with the inclusion of Marilyn Manson appearing in the video - who at the time was an even more controversial figure - as Eminem incorporates him effortlessly into both the song and video.

Outside of the Marilyn Manson cameo, it was a brilliant design choice to inter-cut footage of his personal and professional conflicts to really give an insight as to why he would write a song like this in the first place. Expressionism is the primary difference between someone being a musician or an artist and Eminem nails it substantially in this entry.
