10 Best Eminem Music Videos

9. Love The Way You Lie

Does this even need an explanation? Who hasn't seen this video at this point? It spread all over the airwaves like an epidemic when it was released, so it shouldn't be a surprise that still to this day it's by far one of Eminem's most successful songs. But why is it?

Well, outside of the fact that he chose his collaborator perfectly in Rihanna - who had gone through her own domestic issues not too long before this was made - the video veraciously reflected everything in the song, with the interpersonal relationship being a fictional characterisation of both of the artists' abusive relationships. This makes it feel a lot less masochistic than first implied, as the song and accompanying video feel like a catalyst for expressing the disdain sustained from the aforementioned relationships. Framing them in a way that airs the artists' grievances.

In addition to the existentially ugly violence unfolding on screen, this is further insinuated through the house burning in the background. Indicating that not only has their homely life been eviscerated by the volatile nature of their relationship, but it's been absolutely incinerated to the point of no return. The effigy stands as a powerful reminder to those viewing that those who are in a dire, desperately incredulous situation should never try to run back through the fire to save something that died long ago.
