6. Mosh

Political overtones are something that is more regulated than ever in modern day entertainment. You'll probably struggle to find anything with a dearth of social commentary in this day and age. In 2004, though, when Eminem unflinchingly made it the primary topic of his own personal pledge of disloyalty, titled Mosh, he desecrated the status quo and stated his declaration of independence.

The empowering anthemic track - which feels more relevant now - is inspiring, but the thematic imagery contained within the video may even eclipse it in that aspect.

Beginning the song with a biting criticism of the education system, as he teaches while holding a book upside down before moving onto the next marginalised group. It continues to point fingers and this time it instigates that the corrupt cops of the American constituency need to be relieved of their duty. The haunting segment that follows is all too real for some, entailing a US soldier being redeployed as he arrives at his doorstep. Before it ultimately brings them altogether to charge down the country's biggest problem: the President.

The animated clip atmospherically matches the message being pushed. The gray scale colour palette sums up the dreary collective attitude of the country at that time. The state of the States was something that is front and center - exposed for everyone to see it for what it really is - with Slim's appearance in the video being wildly different to those around him, proving that he doesn't fall in line with the rest of them.
