Spookiest Line: If you're looking for a fright/and you wanna do it right/c'mon turn off the light

Fresh from her new EP released just this month, German singer Kim Petras blends romance and nightmarish spookiness perfectly in the EP's title track. Luring her lover to the dark side, the song is like a 19th Century gothic novel remixed for a 21st Century nightclub.

She shot to fame (or more accurately, notoriety) after becoming one of the youngest people to begin female hormones, and then to receive gender reassignment surgery. Since then though, her career has been all about the music. While the album itself does contain a puntastically titled TRANSylvania, the narrative of each track gives Petras a well rounded personality, away from her original claim to fame.

The European influence on the electro styled track is easy to see, with its repetitive rhythms and synthesised voice. It's the perfect dance track for a Halloween get together, being so obviously spooky-themed while never letting that get in the way of crafting a great song.

The bridge from Elvira is nostalgic of Vincent Price's spine-tingling turn on Thriller too, though it’s different enough to never feel like a rip off.
