10 Best Hard Rock Music Videos Of The 2000s

8. I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor - Arctic Monkeys (2005)

How do you showcase the new exciting face of British rock music? Get a load of vintage cameras from the '80s and film these Yorkshire-born lads performing a rendition of one of the best debut singles of any British rock band to date.

This was a simple and straightforward way of delivering the people what they wanted - raw and unfiltered guitar music.

No doubt the use of aged '80s camera equipment was inspired by an earlier video by The Strokes, who's 2001 video for Last Nite was suspiciously similar in terms of, well, just about everything. But, nevertheless, when the Monkeys did it, it was an iconic moment in their ascent to rock royalty.

Featuring that Iconic line "Don't believe the hype" delivered by a seemingly humble Alex Turner, this was before rock stardom had changed him into a cocky mic-dropping hipster.

It was the perfect way to introduce what the Monkeys represented at the time. A counter-cultural form of music that stood in opposition to the over-commercialised brand of pop-punk and soft-rock of the late '90s and the nu wave movement that reared its head during the early noughties.

There wasn't any rock star stereotypes at this point, no ones combing their hair into a finally lacquered quiff, there isn't a leather jacket in sight, and no one even thinks about puffing cigarette smoke into a camera lens...
