10 Best Hard Rock Music Videos Of The 2010s
2. Corporation – Jack White (2018)
It's obvious this music video had one giant budget. From the first 30 seconds or so you get the impression you're watching a trailer for the next big murder mystery series on Netflix. But it soon descends into an intangible display of evocative imagery.
Jack White has always presented himself as some kind of mysterious force of artistic nature. He's willing to let you share in his art, but he's not going to make it easy for you to understand. This video is the embodiment of that. It's heavily stylised. Scholars could have a field day picking apart all the symbolism in it. But it's enjoyable as a spectacle, even if your mind cant be bothered to do any heavy lifting.
The video feels like the montage from an arthouse heist movie, with each unique character getting an amusing introduction that tells you just enough about them to get you hooked.
The multiple narratives all seem to be woven together somehow, but far from giving you a satisfying conclusion, the end of the video just leaves you with more questions. Someone should pump money into developing a full series script for this concept.
