10 Best Heavy Metal Live Performances Of 2016

8. Testament

2016 was the year of Testament. Somehow finding time to not only pump what could be their best album to date, The Brotherhood of the Snake, but also tour relentlessly with the likes of Amon Amarth, Grand Magus and Savage Messiah, how could the thrash icons not end up on this list?

Easily one of the most raw and visceral acts on this entire list, Testament's appeal comes not only in the moshpit-starting riffs, not only in the charisma of frontman Chuck Billy, not only in how much time they spend on the road, but just in how, after more than thirty years, they are still clearly loving every second of being on-stage.

As they laid waste to London's Brooklyn Bowl at their history-making "Thrash n' Bowl" event, the veteran group were all smiles. Something of an inconsistency when you consider the absolute mayhem that was occurring in the audience before them, but charming nonetheless.

Song-wise, there's never a weak link in the Testament set, with old classics and new rockers alike guaranteed to begin a frenzy in whichever venue they have chosen to destroy.
