10 Best Heavy Metal Live Performances Of 2016

7. Black Stone Cherry

Southern-rockers Black Stone Cherry earned their way onto this list purely due to their most recent tour (the catchily-titled "An Evening with Black Stone Cherry: Experience Kentucky" tour), during which the quartet played not one, but two sets each night.

They opened their shows with an acoustic set, using the time to demonstrate their more heartfelt side on cuts like "Things My Father Said", before making the second half an hour-and-a-half of pure rock n' roll, belting fans with heavy riffs and head-banging grooves.

Not only did the dual performance demonstrate the versatility of both Black Stone Cherry and hard rock music itself, but it somehow seemed to let Black Stone Cherry get more intimate with their fans.

The slower pace of the acoustic set let the band joke around and demonstrate their natural chemistry, as well as interact more with their crowds. Meanwhile, the electric portion felt like a true party: something that got adrenaline pumping and fans jumping.
