10 Best IDLES Songs

9. Well done

A song involving Trevor Nelson and Mary Berry can't be bad, we learn a lot of their backstory, some of which may or not be true. The song presents a strong narrative of class structures and the common methods to attack the poor. The lyrics suggest an adult haruanging a perceived 'layabout', "so why don't you get a medal?”.

This whole song continues to use arguments found in certain newspapers about why the poor are poor. One example is their apparent work shy attitude “why don’t you get a job?”, which also presents an over simplified solution and denies the reality of the situation.

This song is IDLES at their best, fighting the corner of the ‘little man’ rather than taking the side of any big corporation.
