10 Best Jack White Moments

7. The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QgLu7UqGYI What began as an impromptu recording session between Jack, Alison Mosshart (The Kills, Discount) Little Jack 'LJ' Lawrence (The Greenhornes, The Raconteurs) and Dean Fertita (QOTSA, The Waxwings) way back in 2009 evidently got out of hand fairly quickly. A string of tours and two albums later with another full-length release to follow in 2015, The Dead Weather have undeniably amassed too much success and critical acclaim to be labelled just another supergroup. Whilst debut album Horehound was enjoyable with some outstanding moments (see: I Cut like a Buffalo and Hang You from the Heavens), it was on the whole something of a hit-and-miss effort. Their sinister vibe and roaring blues was a little too raw, needing some fine-tuning in order to truly establish the unique sound of which the foundations were undeniably present. However, on second album Sea of Cowards they delivered, and it is this offering that presently ranks as their magnum opus. Creepy and ominous, Jack's menacingly tortured Dead Weather persona was a far cry from the childlike, humble White Stripes' Jack we were used to. Still, it was an interesting departure. Standout tracks: Blue Blood Blues, No Horse, Die by the Drop.
