10 Best Joe Rogan Experience Episodes With Musicians

1. James Hetfield (Episode 887)

James Hetfield is the epitome of never judging a book by its cover. The guitarist and lead singer of one of the biggest metal bands in the world, who has had neck surgery after going too hard for too long on stage, spent a huge chunk of his time talking to Joe Rogan about beekeeping.

To say that Metallica's Hardwired album was released shortly before the episode, they spoke relatively little about music. Of course, he digs into other subjects like the controversy surrounding his love of hunting and his voice over work on a particular bear hunting documentary, but where most rock stars go into their sordid history of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, Papa Het kept thing light for the most part.

Towards the end of the episode however, the two do delve into the subject of James' sobriety and specifically why he made the decision. Naturally, it was a very dark period for the singer, and it is wonderful to hear him open up about it, and talk about how it has improved his home life and his relationships with his family.

Unfortunately, Hetfield has felt it necessary to check back into rehab in recent times, but if he came out happier and healthier before, there's no reason he won't do it again.
