'When They Come For Me' is one of the few Linkin Park songs in which Shinoda takes the lead on vocals. His lyrics confront the naysayers who dislike the band’s new direction and wish for them to return to their old sound.
The chorus is dominated by a spiritual chant that gets instantly stuck in your head, and the tribal drums make such a chant still more emotive.
As great as the studio version of this song is, 'When They Come For Me' is hypnotic live. The additional percussion (performed by Bennington) is truly a sight to behold.
'When They Come For Me' is yet another underrated gem that doesn’t get enough recognition. Not only is it one of the band's most unique songs in terms of sound, it’s also irresistibly catchy.
