10 Best Live Rock Bands
6. Slipknot
In the hallowed halls of rock, metal music holds a special place when it comes to the live stage. While playing music to frighten you, it's equally important to have the right visual presentation to go along with the intensity. With that in mind, 9 musicians from Iowa came up with a live show that would be the most disturbing performances ever to be put on a stage.
From the start, Slipknot's music is brutally intense without any visual added to it, but seeing the band members in their disturbing masks gives the impression of a band possessed. Once the music starts at a Knot show, the stage is total anarchy with fire canons, digital enhancements, and rotating drum risers suspended in the air.
Even though Corey Taylor is the frontman, DJ Sid Wilson and percussionist Clown are the true wild animals onstage, as they do everything from attacking each other to jumping into the crowd to bring the terror up-close. The true highlight of each show is during the song "Spit it Out," where Taylor commands the crowd to the floor before releasing the coil and the audience erupting into a humongous moshpit. Truly the perfect encapsulation of rage taken to its anarchic conclusion onstage.
