8. Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) - Neil Young & Crazy Horse (1991)
For a guy who made his name as a softly spoken folk singer, Neil Young can play one mean guitar. The energy he's able to inject into his shows is impressive, even today. This particular performance is about as close as you can get to experiencing the power of a Neil Young Concert without being there.
The one thing it's missing, is one of Young's infamously long improvised solo sessions. We do get a touch of his frenzied guitar mastery, but alas we only get to witness him bob back and forth in that distinctively infectious way, for a mere five and half minutes...
After you're done soaking in the powerful mullets, the majestic moustaches and the bold choice of eye wear, you start to appreciate just how much conviction the audience are exerting when screaming Young's lyrics back at him.
Now granted, a few of these individuals do look as though they've smoked a little something of this or ingested a little something of that, but Young's allure cant be denied. Around the four minute mark your faith in the universe will be restored when you spot some little old dear pounding her fist on the stage with all the conviction of a bad-to-the-bone punk.
