10 Best Live Versions Of Rock Music Classics

7. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan (1966)

Although this was not the famous clip of Dylan being dubbed with the moniker of 'Judas', this performance took place during the same tour. It was a time when Dylan was at his least popular with fans. The decision to trade in the acoustic guitar in favour of a Fender Telecaster (and a full backing band) just didn't sit right with folk heads.

Far from protesting their disapproval by refusing to buy tickets, fans would boo and jeer while Dylan performed. If you watch any interviews of Dylan from this time, it's clear this behaviour effected him. On top of that, his consistent touring led to a reliance on amphetamine.

You can see the wear on Dylan's face here, he is pale and his eyes betray a level of spaced out intoxication.

For all that, he still manages to give one of the most enchanting and defiant renditions of Like A Rolling Stone you could imagine. Even for an audience of unenthusiastic and hostile fans, he was determined to bring it all back home with this number.
