10 Best Music Videos Of 2016

2. Radiohead - Daydreaming

You know a video is going to be memorable when it's directed by esteemed director Paul Thomas Anderson, responsible for some of the finest modern films ever made, like There Will Be Blood, Magnolia and The Master. Daydreaming is the second single from Radiohead's ninth studio album A Moon Shaped Pool.

The premise of the video is simple enough: we watch singer Thom Yorke wander through a series of doorways and passages, looking for we don't know what but with an urgency that suggests a clear purpose. Yorke enters people's homes, a dry cleaners, a convenience store, a forest, an abandoned car park...on and on he goes, the occasional smile creeping across his lips lending the whole thing even more ambiguity.

Eventually we find him atop a snowy mountain, where he climbs for so long that night falls. He then makes his way into a tight cave which contains a glowing fire. At last, Yorke collapses, exhausted, staring into the screen while mouthing the song's final, distorted words. The whole sequence is remarkably captivating, complimenting the haunting song beautifully.
