10 Best New Heavy Metal Bands Of 2018

2. The Fever 333

Over the last twelve months, The Fever 333 have accomplished more than the vast majority of other bands do in an entire career. They’ve signed to Roadrunner Records, released their debut EP, provided the theme song for a WWE event, performed at Reading & Leeds, headlined awards shows and supported Bring Me the Horizon on a stacked UK tour. Their 2018 has been one of the best calendar years of any up-and-coming rock band in recent memory. But why? What is it that makes the group special?

Cynics would answer that it’s the trio’s pedigree. Frontman Jason Aalon Butler is, after all, the former singer of post-hardcore icons Letlive. But prior successes alone do not make a new venture succeed – just ask the guys who were in Rock Star Supernova.

No, the safe bet is instead that their momentum is because of a mixture of excellent music, energised live shows and timely political themes. On their Made an America EP, Butler and co. meld together hip-hop and hardcore to create successful and streetwise anthems like “Hunting Season” and “Walking in My Shoes”. Alongside their attention-stealing jams, lyrical themes like racism, corruption and glass ceilings only increase The Fever 333’s modern significance, and have earnt already them comparisons to Rage Against the Machine.

Promoting free thought and equality through manic, heavy music. What’s not to love?
