10 Best Nu-Metal Albums Of The 00s
8. POD - Satellite (2001)
The Christian Cali rockers feature a heavy reggae influence spliced into the metal scene, setting them apart for the rest of the movement and keeping their sound fresh in a highly saturated market place.
The whole album has a heavy hitting feel to it right from the start with Set It Off, a blend of mind-boggling drumming and classic nu-metal, almost industrial metal guitar licks. The bouncing lyrical style of Sonny Sandoval is and always has been the signature to POD’s sound and helped cement their place in the realms of nu-metal.
The real magic of the album is highlighted by some of their most memorable tracks, including the titular Satellite, the motivational Boom, deeply dark Youth of the Nation and oft-radio featured Alive. The album could literally serve up as an early days ‘greatest hits’ album due to the tunes that are housed within the record.
Satellite is a prime example of a band finding their niche at just the right time and riding the coattails of its success throughout their career.
