10 Best Nu-Metal Albums Of The 90s

8. Powerman 5000! - Tonight The Stars Revolt (1999)

Filled with heavy-hitting distortion and a synthesiser on overload, Powerman 5000 delivered one hell of an album - even if they can be seen as a one trick pony.

The standout song of the album is without a doubt When World’s Collide, showing simplicity can’t be overlooked. The band emphasises a more systematic approach to song structure with a basic but heavy backbone.

Sometimes less is more, giving access to some of the most head-nodding songs of the later nineties, revolving around a groove-centric signature. The album screams lava lamps, black lights and some funky smelling ‘incense’.

PM5K managed to create an album that is a necessity to be played with the volume at 11, enjoying the simplistic brutality of an electro-metal machine gun. Tonight The Stars Revolt is one of the most entertaining albums of the nu-metal movement which can be enjoyed in pretty much any shape or form.
