10 Best Number One Rock Albums Of The 2000s

3. Toxicity - System Of A Down

Of the four albums released by professional lunatics System of a Down in the noughties, three of them went to number one.

The one that didn't was called Steal This Album, so that makes sense.

The first of the band's records to bag first prize was 2001's Toxicity, which achieved the feat in late September. The majority of rock fans will know this album for its holy trinity of singles; Chop Suey!; the title track; and Aerials. These three songs alone would have been worthy of the top spot, but there was so much more packed on to this insane masterpiece.

System of a Down's idiosyncratic approach to music captured the hearts of early-00s America, who were way more willing to accept more out-there ideas that they would become later in the decade. Had Toxicity come out a few years later, there is no chance it would have been a number one, but this stands a great example of the right place at the right time.

Although, no matter when it would have come out, it would have still been phenomenal.
