10 Best Number One Rock Albums Of The 2010s

9. Sound & Color - Alabama Shakes

People who have never heard Brittany Howard's voice are doing themselves a serious disservice.

The singer, who has enjoyed success both as a solo act and as the frontwoman for Alabama Shakes, has one of the most unique voices in modern music; an exquisite blend of gospel, soul, and rock that defies all logic and makes you a little bit hoarse just listening to it.

Howard's immense talent is on full display on Alabama Shakes' second (and most recent) studio release, 2015's Sound & Color. The album is just as varied as its influences, mixing blues, heartland rock, roots, and many other genres into one delicious melting pot.

Anyone else hungry now?

The band had done well with their debut studio release, which peaked at number six, but Sound & Color was a success on a whole other level. It skyrocketed to the number one spot, drinking in the splendours for just a single week.

If the charts were based on actual music talent, then this album should have stayed number one for the rest of time. Alas, Ed Sheeran has to get a number one somehow.
