10 Best One-Album Wonders In Rock Music History

6. Last Splash - The Breeders

Pixies - aka, the "Where is My Mind?" folk - would have been contenders for this list were it not for their continued popularity in the UK.

Damn Brits, always ruining everything.

Thankfully, there's still room for one of their members on this list through bass player Kim Deal's side project.

The Breeders were formed in 1989 and have been releasing albums sporadically ever since. Their first effort, Pod, did ok, charting at number 22 in Britain.

However, it would be their second album Last Splash that would make the biggest... uh, splash.

Backed by singles Cannonball, Divine Hammer, and Saints, Last Splash became the band's first album to chart in the US. In the UK, it found its way into the top five!

Last Splash went silver in Britain, gold in Australia and Canada, and platinum in the United States. This means that The Breeders have just as many platinum records as the band they spun off from.

The band would never see these sorts of sales figures again, as none of their following albums were given any sort of certification.

Not even in Britain.
