10 Best Pop Punk Albums Of 2016

2. PUP - The Dream Is Over

"If this tour doesn't kill you, then I will."

These are the lyrics that open Canadian rock band PUP's second studio album The Dream Is Over, and it sets the tone for what's to come.

The Dream Is Over is a fantastic collection of urgent, humorous and frequently sarcastic tracks that somehow manage to also provide profound insight into issues like self-doubt, unrequited love and the feeling of hopelessness.

The record was funded by Canada's Private Radio Broadcasters, which seems like an odd place to raise money for a pop punk record, but the strangeness of its funding is almost fitting, as the record itself is such an eclectic collection of compelling material.
