6. Panic At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Pop Punk...say hello to Theatrics. After initially forming as a Blink-182 cover band, Las Vegas punks Panic! at the Disco took the pop-punk and injected it with Broadway-like gravitas.
Across their debut album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out was a pop-punk explosion that spared no expense on theatrical elements. Many people point to the smash hit "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," but other tracks on the album feature the eclectic sound of Panic! in even greater ways. From one track to the next, the band fiddles with everything from electronic music to piano showcases to even nylon-string guitar touches.
At the center of this musical circus in Brendon Urie, whose voice is able to reach into the stratosphere for amazing moments on songs like "But It's Better If You Do," and the stunning album closer "Build God, Then We'll Talk." By the mid-2000's, the pop punk scene was starting to reach peak levels of cringe and Panic! was one of the genre's more notable punching bags. However, this album has held up over time and is one of the few silver linings to be found amidst all the other pop punk wannabes of the world.
