10 Best Posthumous Rock Music Releases

8. Lost - Linkin Park

Our first single-song entry, this Linkin Park track was originally recorded back in 2002 during sessions for their sophomore album Meteora.

That album was a total smash, cementing the band's position as one of the hottest new acts on the block. It birthed songs like Breaking the Habit, Faint, Numb, but not Lost. That was kept off.

Then, two decades after Meteora first went on sale, this forgotten track saw the light of day. As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for the album, Lost got released as a single in February 2023.

Not only is it a banger that would have sat perfectly alongside the rest of Linkin Park's work from the time, it also features vocals from the band's late singer Chester Bennington.

Bennington had taken his own life five years earlier, but it would have felt wrong not to recognise his contributions to the band's early days.

According to vocalist Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park fans had been asking for more archived records of Bennington since his death. Lost provided the perfect opportunity to meet these demands and celebrate a fantastic singer whose time on this Earth ended way too soon.
