10 Best Rock Album Music Covers Of The 2000s

6. Farm - Dinosaur Jr.

This band can trace their roots back to 1984, when they used to just be called Dinosaur. When they were threatened with legal action if they didn't change their name, they hilariously just stuck "Jr." on the end and that was that.

By the time 2009 came around, they were on their ninth album. This was Farm, a record that was reviewed fairly well but is not the most fondly remembered of their releases.

Artist Marq Spusta was brought in to design Farm's front cover, and he settled on an image that played on the album's title. Two large, tree-like creatures are shown carrying animals and angelic humans across a smog-filled industrial landscape. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the message here - nature good, technology bad.

The way Spusta created the scene makes it so warm and inviting to look at. The creatures look so docile and friendly, striding along peacefully against a pastel-coloured sky. It looks like something out of a children's book, only with much darker connotations.

Also, congrats on whoever came up with the placement of the title and the band name. Great use of empty space.
