10 Best Rock Album Openers Of The 1990s

4. Thunderstruck - AC/DC (The Razors Edge)

Much like Queen, AC/DC are not instantly tied to the 90s like many other bands on this list.

The band only released two albums in the entire decade, but they both sold well. Ballbreaker from 1995 was a top ten hit on both sides of the Atlantic, as was their 1990 record The Razors Edge.

Before you say anything, that's not a typo. The title genuinely doesn't feature an apostrophe.

Thankfully, the opening song on the album is so good that it makes up for any and all grammatical shortcomings.

As soon as the opening tapping riff kicks in, you know you're in for a good time. Thunderstruck is the AC/DC formula done to perfection; a steady drumbeat, lyrics about going out and fighting, and an all-time great guitar hook.

Love the band or hate them, it's impossible to deny that this song gets under your skin.

Thunderstruck sounds like it always belonged in AC/DC's arsenal, which is mad considering how long after so many of their other classics it was released.

You could call it the last great song they ever released... although, that will probably upset people.
