10 Best Rock Bands With Only Two Members

1. Steely Dan

To many hardcore music lovers, the names of Walter Becker and Donald Fagan will bring up so many fond memories.

From their very first album, 1972's Can't Buy a Thrill, these two effortlessly fused rock with jazz, R&B, Latin rhythms, avant-garde, and the blues with an extreme focus on technical musicianship.

Becker and Fagan were so obsessed with perfecting their playing, they abandoned live shows in 1974 in order to focus solely on their studio work. This is where the legend of Steely Dan really got going as, with a revolving cast of the world's greatest session musicians, they fashioned some of the most captivating music ever made.

Pretzel Logic, Katy Lied, Aja, Gaucho, these albums are much-cherished amongst those who take music very seriously, as The Dan showed that there was so much more to rock than screeching guitars and singing about girls.

They eventually returned to touring later in their careers, before Becker's untimely passing in 2017. Even though one half of them are no longer with us, Steely Dan have more than established their legacy and set the standard for what it means to be a band's band.
