10 Best Rock Music Album Closers Of The 2010s

5. Acid Rain - Avenged Sevenfold (Hail To The King)

Though their best known for their hellish heavy metal tracks, Avenged Sevenfold aren't afraid to get sappy every now and again.

They proved this with the song So Far Away, a tribute to their fallen drummer The Rev. Then, on the first album recorded without him, they did it again.

Hail to the King is a fantastic album that cemented the band's place as one of the titans of modern rock. New drummer Arin Ilejay slotted in perfectly, delivering a performance his predecessor would have been proud of.

The final spot on the record was given to Acid Rain, a six minute 40 second ballad about accepting that one's time has come. The rain in the title is seen as a good thing by the protagonist, who asks nature to cleanse him and his loved one as they are removed from this life.

It's a big theme for a metal band to tackle one, but A7X get it just right. M. Shadows packs an almighty punch on vocals, adding some much-needed substance to the weighty words.

Acid Rain offers up a view of the band that is rarely seen, and it does so in style.
