10 Best Rock Music Album Covers Of The 1990s

6. Rust In Peace - Megadeth

Thrash metal might have been at its peak in the mid-80s, but one band was determined to keep it going into the early days of the 1990s.

Megadeth released their fourth album Rust in Peace (great name) in September 1990. Since then, it has become one of the shining examples of the genre, being cited by many as one of the greatest metal albums of the entire decade.

Having a mascot can make coming up with album artwork so much easier.

Just ask Iron Maiden. Those guys owe Eddie a massive debt.

Vic Rattlehead has been around since Megadeth's very first record, getting an origin story in the song The Skull Beneath the Skin. His skeletal presence can be felt on this piece of work too, as he investigates an alien body.

As various world leaders watch on, Vic approaches the alien's casket with a strange glowing material in his hand. It's quite the scene and fits in nicely with the rest of the band's insane covers.

Rattlehead has been in some amazing pictures over the years, but this one might just take the cake when it comes to satire, intrigue, and outright weirdness.
