6. Walk Among Us - Misfits
When it comes to the horror-punk subgenre, arguably the most famous band to play that style are Misfits. Actually, there's no argument to be had. They are the most famous. By a loooooooong way.
The band are an utterly bizarre mixture. Their image is based on old sci-fi and horror B-movies, and they often incorporate makeup and costumes into their act.
Misfits play in a pretty traditionally punk manner, but their lead singer, Glenn Danzig, has an unbelievable voice and has been known to perform classical pieces from time to time. No wonder they've been cited as an inspiration by several varied acts, from Metallica to Green Day to NOFX.
It all began for Misfits with their 1982 debut album Walk Among Us, which contains such delightfully named songs as "Violent World", "Devil's Wh*rehouse", and "Mommy, Can I Go Out & Kill Tonight?"
With only one song above three minutes (and one that somehow comes in at just 56 seconds), Walk Among Us taps out at 24 minutes and 38 seconds.
Just one listen will show you how mad Misfits are, which is exactly why you'll fall in love with them.
