10 Best Rock Music Collaborations Of The 1980s

2. Queen & David Bowie - Under Pressure

People must have felt like the planets had aligned when it was revealed that David Bowie and Queen were doing a song together. Both acts were massive at the time with enough selling power and sex appeal to incite a riot if they'd wanted to.

The song came about when both parties were recording music in a studio in Switzerland. Bowie offered some backing vocals to another Queen song called Cool Cat (which were eventually removed due to the star not being happy with his work), before they both sat down and cranked this ditty out.

Under Pressure was released as a single in 1981 and took the world by storm. It topped the UK singles charts and ended the year as one of the 50 biggest-selling songs in the whole country.

There's also the massive cultural impact it's had since its release, being covered by everyone from My Chemical Romance to Shawn Mendes to... *sigh*... Vanilla Ice.

Under Pressure remains one of the biggest songs in either act's discography even after all these years.
