10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 1980s
2. Land Of Confusion - Genesis
From 1984 to 1996, British TV viewers were entertained by the satirical antics of the sketch show Spitting Image.
Using grotesque puppets instead of real people, the show skewered all kinds of public figures with its offbeat look at current events. It was extremely popular, especially during the 80s, so imagine how big a get it was for Genesis to secure some of its props for one of their videos.
With the help of some Spitting Image puppets, the former prog rockers put out the video for Land of Confusion in 1986. It's an absolutely wild story, centering around then-President Ronald Reagan having a nightmare.
He also owns a pet chimp for some reason.
To attempt to describe the video to you now would do it a serious disservice. Anyone who knows their 80s history will have a blast recognising all the famous faces depicted in it, and the video makes good on the satirical nature of both the song and the TV show.
One of the best music videos of the entire decade, rock or otherwise, Land of Confusion remains popular long after Spitting Image lost its momentum.
And don't even try and bring up the revival - that stank.
