10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 2000s

2. Duality - Slipknot

What do you do when you want to rennovate your house but don't want to pay for any of it?

You invite a metal band and a bunch of their fans over to destroy the place and then get compensated by the record company, of course!

In 2004, Slipknot and dozens of their followers turned up at a house in Des Moines, Iowa and completely wrecked the place. Roadrunner Records compensated the family that lived there around $50,000 for their trouble, as legions of maggots ripped their way through their home.

This was all consensual, by the way. At least, hopefully it was...

The end result of this mad idea is a video that is truly one of a kind. Real people attending a real Slipknot performance and causing real destruction to a real house in the process.

You just cannot replicate that sort of wanton violence and the whole thing fits the band's vibe perfectly.

The fact that people travelled from as far as Ukraine and Great Britain to be in the video proves just how popular Slipknot were at the time, as well as how badly young men wanted to smash things up in the early 2000s.
