10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 2020s So Far

9. The Battle Of Cape Fear River - Alestorm

Have you ever heard of the genre pirate metal?

Well, you have now.

The main flagbearers (pun fully intended) for this bizarre sub-section of rock are Alestorm, a Scottish band who have released seven studio albums all about being pirates.

This is 100% real. We're not puling your (peg)leg.

One of the singles from their 2022 album Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum (again, totally real) was The Battle of Cape Fear River and the band went all out when it came to shooting the video.

After all, you don't get to make a career out of pretending to be a pirate by half-assing it.

The lads have discovered a buried treasure and set out to find it. So far, so piratey. Things get a little awkward when they stumble across the booty though, and an all-out gunfight erupts.

As various members get sent to Davey Jones' locker, they turn up in a metal pirate underworld where the party continues. The entire thing is completely off the rails and so much fun if you let go of all semblance of sense and normalcy.

Long may these crazy buccaneers continue to provide us with mayhem like this.
