10 Best Sequels To Incredible Albums

1. Mac Miller – Circles

Mac Miller tragically died from an accidental drug overdose in 2018, a month after his astonishing album ‘Swimming’ was released, where he truly evolved from rapper to technically great musician. Amazingly, Mac had already tirelessly worked on its follow-up in that time. So producer Jon Brion, who was working with Mac before he passed away, was tasked with completing the record at the appeal of Mac’s family, believing it was what Mac would have wanted out in the world.

In January 2020, ‘Circles’ was released, the record Mac was faithfully working on at the time of his untimely death. Circles was going to be an accompanying piece to Swimming, with the idea being we’re all ‘swimming in circles’. It’s an emotionally calming record to listen to. Like other Mac releases, it defies genre, with him having the ability to entangle different styles of music into one. There’s rare joy you don’t usually find with Mac on Circles. It’s a tragic yet perfect swansong for Mac Miller who will live on forever with this record. He hums on Complicated: "Some people say they want to live forever, that's way too long, I'll just get through today."

Swimming In Circles is what he was chasing: his masterpiece.
