10 Best Slash Guitar Solos You Haven't Heard

7. Double Talkin Jive - Guns N Roses

To put it mildly, the entire Use Your Illusion experience is one of the biggest messes in rock history.

While there are some stellar songs peppered throughout the track listing, splitting the epic ballad-heavy sound of Guns N Roses across two discs sometimes sounds like your listening to Axl Rose: The Ego Trip Experience. However, when Axl isn't fixating on his loftier ambitions, the band could still kick a ton of ass when they wanted to.

Appearing in the middle of Use Your Illusion I, "Double Talkin Jive" feels like a relic from the street-rat era of Guns, with a compact structure and one of Axl's most menacing vocal performances. Though Axl is clearly the star of the Illusion show, Slash blows right past him on this cut, as he comes in to annihilate the entire track with his maniacal solo structures. The speed of his leads on this song are so fast that they might just be gone before you're really ready for them to stop.

It's bad enough trying to wrap your brain around the central riff of this song, but this one guitar performance feels like strapping a locomotive to your back and getting ready to blast off. Use Your Illusion may be a mess, but it takes songs like these to make that mess beautiful.
