10 Best Slash Guitar Solos You Haven't Heard

6. Nothing To Say - Slash

Slash (and Guns N Roses in general) seemed like the missing link between hard rock and heavy metal.

With peers like Metallica and a high pedigree for shredding, Slash's guitar playing always seemed like the mainstream rock that metalheads could get down with. So when it came time for Slash to actually strike out on his own, you knew something heavy was going to pop up sooner or later.

Instead of having a set lineup, Slash's proper solo record features a star studded list of talent, but the inclusion of M Shadows on "Nothing To Say" was destined for something huge. Before the solo really kicks in, the central riff is absolutely bone-crushing, with Slash doing his best impression of a thrash metal guitarist. Just as it winds you up, the solo kicks in and makes every bit of tension pay off, as Slash turns in a guitar figure with fangs.

The song definitely still has the trademark swagger of Slash, but you could detect hints of his peers on the scene from Kirk Hammett to even Synyster Gates in some moments. Slash could just rest on his laurels at this point, but hearing a solo like this come out of him shows that he's curious to see where the six-string will take him down the road.
