10 Best Soft Rock Albums Of All Time

3. Hotel California - Eagles

Fame can be a bit of a tricky thing for anyone getting into the music business. For as successful as your album gets, you also have a bit of responsibility that comes with it to make the next one even better than what you had already done. It's impossible to expect that kind of perfection time and time again, so it's practically a miracle when someone gets it as well as the Eagles did on Hotel California.

Leaving no room for filler anymore, this is the Eagles' magnum opus because of more than just that title track. While being the thesis statement for the record, the rest of the album is just as good at capitalizing on what it means to be a victim of the Sunshine State, whether that's wondering if you're going to be yesterday's news on the song New Kid in Town or going on a long bender with no end in sight on Life in the Fast Lane.

This is still a soft rock album, and the ballads are where things really start to go for the chest, like when Joe Walsh of all people gets introspective on Pretty Maids All in Row or Don Henley desperately trying to think about the good memories with his lost love on the song Wasted Time. California may be the state where dreams come true, but the songs on here have some good advice at what you're getting yourself into once you decide to take that deep dive.
