10 Best Solo Albums From Former Rock Band Members

5. Hellbilly Deluxe - Rob Zombie

Before he was a solo artist and before he was directing questionable Halloween reboots, Rob Zombie was the lead singer in a band called White Zombie.

Named after a Bela Lugosi film, which also inspired Rob's stage name, White Zombie were a noise rock outfit that gained early traction on the New York underground circuit. From 1987 to 1995, they released four studio albums, the final two of which went double platinum in the US.

Things were not to last for this undead crew, as their frontman was planning to ascend to solo stardom. In 1998, Rob Zombie released his first solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe, or "13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International" to give it its full title.

Hellbilly Deluxe (not saying the full name again, sorry) channelled its creator's love for all things chaotic and evil, drawing on Zombie's fascination with twisted horror films. Because this was 1998, the world lapped it up, catapulting the shock rocker into the stratosphere.

Though White Zombie hadn't technically broken up when Hellbilly came out, they were on the rocks. In fact, they officially called it a day just one month after its release, which says it all.
