10 Best Solo Albums From Former Rock Band Members

2. All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

When it comes to great solo albums from former Beatles, you're spoilt for choice.

Paul McCartney's Tug of War, the first Plastic Ono Band record, Ringo Starr's Ringo album. No, really, that last one slaps. Don't diss Ringo.

However, when it comes to albums that presented a former fab in a completely different light, then there is only one option; George Harrison's much-lauded 1970 triple album, All Things Must Pass.

After years of mounting frustration at McCartney and Lennon, Harrison was finally given carte blanche and he made the most of it. The so-called "Quiet Beatle" let loose a raft of great songs, mostly centred around his spirituality and his connection to the Earth and the people on it.

Some of the songs on All Things Must Pass, including the title track, were considered for late-era Beatles records, but eventually passed on. The fact that Harrison was sitting on so many classics whilst the two ringleaders ignored him invites many exciting questions about what The Beatles might have looked like had George been given a bigger role.

Whilst that will never be known, at least audiences can be grateful that this wonderful celebration of the man exists.
