10 Best Stereophonics Songs

5. Local Boy in the Photograph - Word Gets Around

Another brilliant song from the Stereophonics' first album, Local Boy in the Photograph is (another) song inspired by true events, this time the tragic death of a young man who was killed by a train. The sense of time and place are deeply invoked in the song's lyrics, which is then built upon by stellar guitar work both Kelly and Richard Jones, as well as memorable drum hooks from Stuart Cable.

An astonishing single from the debut album, Local Boy in the Photograph is an exceptional specimen of the Stereophonics' earlier works, as well as being a great listening experience overall. This song, along with all the other memorable singles from Word Gets Around combine to form a first-rate debut album that any band would wish to produce on their first attempt.

Local Boy in the Photograph features every member of the original trio on top form, creating the groundwork that the Stereophonics would launch their career from.
