10 Best Supergroups In Hard Rock And Metal

9. Black Country Communion

It's not all that uncommon for the old school rock and rollers to find their way to the blues every now and again. Hell, the idea of a band over 30 years old still making down and dirty 12 bar exercises is pretty much considered retirement at this point. Even though you don't have to try too hard, Black Country Communion's lineup were never really known to rest on their laurels.

While already having a blues rock godsend in guitarist Joe Bonamassa, the rest of this band is the stuff of legends ripped out of your old vinyl collection, from Glenn Hughes' bellowing voice driving the train and Jason Bonham giving a masterclass behind the kit on every track he plays on. Though the years have definitely took their toll on the band, you wouldn't hear it on these recordings, as Hughes pushes his voice to the same highs he was used to in his Deep Purple days.

Aside from a few slow burns here and there, the fact that Bonamassa can still shred with the best of them alongside keyboardist Derek Shirinian is almost prog in some places. Despite retreating into their own solo careers and supergroups of their own, Black Country Communion is still near and dear to each members' heart and stands as one of the overlooked gems of the rock revival circuit.
