10 Best Supergroups In Hard Rock And Metal
2. The Damned Things
For anyone who comes to a band like Fall Out Boy for the licks, the past few years have been pretty tough to say the least. Ever since coming back from the dead for the 2010's, this newest iteration of the pop punk overlords have been more busy trying to turn themselves into Maroon 5 than having actual hooks behind their songs. If you want to hear where the magic went though, The Damned Things makes for a damn interesting side project.
As much as Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley seem to sit on their hands for most of their main gig's albums, they make up for that with a vengeance with the Damned Things, with some thunder behind them to spare. Compared to the drum performances alone, it's almost like night and day with these projects, as Hurley taps into his inner metalhead. Then again, when you're working with the solid iron hand of Scott Ian, you're bound to get whipped into shape pretty quickly.
Rounded out by Every Time I Die frontman Keith Buckley and Dan Andriano from Alkaline Trio, the Damned Things have kept trucking with some of the greatest music that any of these men have released in ages. Although no one is asking for Fall Out Boy to break up or anything, it's safe to say Hurley and Trohman have a backup plan at the very least.
