10 Best Two-Album Wonders In Rock Music History
2. The Stone Roses
A huge "What If?" with regards to the British music scene in the '90s pertains to The Stone Roses and their short-lived musical career.
What if the band had released more than two albums? What if they'd been as successful as Oasis, Blur, and Pulp? What if Ian Brown didn't turn out to be an anti-vaxxer?
All valid questions.
In 1989, the band released their self-titled debut and listeners got a glimpse at what music would sound like in about five years' time.
Songs like Waterfall, I Wanna Be Adored, and She Bangs the Drums were all drenched in the working class detachment that would soon become familiar as Britpop.
The Stone Roses (the album) hit number five in the UK charts, and its successor, 1994's Second Coming, went one better at number four.
Unfortunately, due to infighting between the members, the band broke up shortly after Second Coming. Even with a reunion in the early 2010s, no new albums were ever made.
Whilst it's a crying shame that Roses fans only have two records to listen to, at least they can rest easy knowing that they're both pretty impeccable.
