10 Biggest Album Disasters Of All Time
6. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Any one who has been anywhere near classics radio in the past 50 years has had some form of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours burrowed into their skull. Across just one record, the Mac harnessed some form of sonic magic that will never be seen again, melding the worlds of blues, pop, folk, and country into one magical collection of songs. Too bad the band hated each other during the entire making of the record.
That's to say...the songwriters did. As the sessions started rolling, both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were in the middle of a fairly public breakup, which they both poured into their respective songs like Go Your Own Way and Dreams. On the other side of the studio, Christine and John McVie were also in the midst of getting divorced, which led to Christine writing songs of her own to get through the whole ordeal.
While the Chain is the only song on the record credited to each band member, the rest of the song tended to feel more like therapy sessions, as each member do the best they can to hold it together despite how much pain they've caused themselves. So next time you throw on something like Go Your Own Way or You Make Loving Fun, just remember you're being given a front row seat to some of the juiciest band drama in the world.
