10 Biggest Hard Rock & Metal Gigs Of All Time

1. Monsters Of Rock In Moscow - 1991

For any self respecting hard rock fan, the Monsters of Rock festival in Moscow holds a certain spot above most other live performances. With some of the best hard rock acts coming together in Tushino Airfield, the entire day marked a landmark shift in the world of hard rock music.

Though most people were psyched about AC/DC closing the performance back in England, it was the fresher faces that really made an impression. One of the biggest showstoppers at the outset was Pantera, who tore through some of their heaviest material like "Primal Concrete Sledge" and "Domination." With only one heavy rock release to their name at that point, the band were ready to take over the metal world with this one performance.

However, the biggest draw had to be Metallica, who had just come off of one of the biggest hard rock records ever made with the Black Album. Playing through their big hits, the band conquered the entire day as they annihilate each and every song like their life depends on it. At the end of the day, a total of 1.6 million hard rock fans had been given the performances of a lifetime. Shortly after this one performance, the Soviet Union would come crashing down to rubble.
