10 Biggest Metal Albums Still To Come In 2019

7. Alter Bridge - "Walk The Sky" (18 Oct)

When speaking on "Walk the Sky," Alter Bridge's sixth studio album, guitarist Mark Tremonti told Kerrang! that fans should expect a lighter, more "free-spirited" sound.

Comparing the release to 2010's darker "AB III," he called "Walk the Sky" the "yang to the yin of that. 'AB III' was kind of about a loss of faith and not believing, Myles [Kennedy] was having a dark moment in that time and he wrote the majority of the lyrics. This is more of an enlightening, Zen kind of record. It's not preachy by any means, it's more of a free-spirited kind of thing."

Interesting comments from Tremonti, but not quite as interesting his claims that "Walk the Sky" will feature an "old-school synthwave kind of vibe, similar to a John Carpenter movie."

This makes it sounds like big changes are afoot for the hard rock heavyweights, with lead single 'Pay no Mind' successfully incorporating futuristic keys into the group's trademark sound. It isn't a revolution, but it's a step in the right direction, and, if consistent, one that could make "Walk the Sky" Alter Bridge's most intriguing release to date.
